Dr.
You received his B.S. degree from the Seoul National University in Korea
and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota, all in
Mechanical Engineering. Since he joined the Mechanical Engineering Department
at the University of Texas at Arlington in the fall of 1990, he has established
the Boiling & Condensation Heat Transfer Laboratory at UTA. Dr. You
has extensive research experience in the areas of experimental thermal
science and heat transfer. Dr. You is a Member of ASME and the chair of
the ASME Heat Transfer Visualization Committee. He is the author of more
than 60 publications and he also served as consultant for industries.
Major research interests include: convective heat transfer
and fluid flow, heat
transfer with phase change, and heat transfer enhancement.
Current research topics are:
- Enhancement of boiling heat transfer with micro-porous surface structures
- Flow boiling heat transfer in compact heat exchangers
- Non-condensable gas effects on boiling heat transfer
- Investigation of boiling heat transfer mechanisms
- Critical Heat Flux
- Thermal management of high-heat-flux microelectronics
- Heat transfer in heat exchangers
